If the sale of fireworks is used for fundrasing to send kids to camp, what happens once the camp is gone?

Question by Me-She: If the sale of fireworks is used for fundrasing to send kids to camp, what happens once the camp is gone?
California’s Governor Schwarzenegger has “requested” that fireworks not be sold & the citizens of my state to refrain from using them due to AIR QUALITY ISSUES & EXTREME FIRE DANGER this season.

Many non-profits are REFUSING to do so, stating that it is their constitutional right & the profits will be used to send children to CAMP.

Since most camps are in wilderness areas & most of them are dangerously close to the many wildfires that are currently burning, then I have to ask WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON with these non-profit groups anyway?

How can you send children to camp if the campground is burned down to the ground?

How can you expect your own local fire department to put out the fires in YOUR town if there are no firefighters in your town because they have all been sent to other places to ASSIST in the BIG FIRES?

HELLO?…Is anybody home in the brain department of these non-profits? Is it all about THEIR money? What’s UP with these people, anyway?
Here’s another thought…How can these organizations expect to have the members of their surrounding communities continue to SUPPORT their fundraising efforts in the FUTURE if they won’t be a PART OF THAT COMMUNITY MINDED SPIRIT & EFFORTS WITHIN the City & County that is their own home address too? I
t speaks volumns to a hidden agenda that seems to be money based in greed only, does it not?

LOL.

I dunno why Schwarzenneger doesn’t just apply a temporary ban this year. Most of the municipalities in my area have already banned them permanently, and where they’re legal, the municipalities are talking about temporary bans for this year. The non-profits may lose money, but they’ll come around…they are generally there to do good deeds, and will soon see that what they’re asking for is contrary to their intentions.

I’m very nearby a couple of the big fires here in CA. Even if the non-profits did set up booths and try to sell the fireworks, I don’t think there would be many people who’d be willing to buy them. It’s already smoky, and the fires are just too darn close to think about fireworks here (the city I live in has canceled it’s annual show). And too many have seen their friends’ homes destroyed to risk their own.

To answer the initial question directly, they would go to another camp. There are campgrounds all over the place, so they’d just go somewhere else.

That is an excellent point! It really makes no sense at all. For a state that is prone to fires constantly all year long, there has to be some other way to raise money that’s safer and more logical than putting people’s lives and homes in danger. Also wildlife and trees….like you said, even their own camp grounds too!

  2. its Schwarzenegger, he’s just a robot

  3. People can be so self-centered and inconsiderate. I can’t imagine setting off fireworks in or near any areas prone to wild fires. We’re getting a small idea of how bad the smoke and damage from wildfires can be from what’s going on in NC. The smoke travels hundreds of miles. These are probably the same people who flick their cigarettes out the car windows.

  4. Why don’t they sell candy and things to raise funds with. Makes more sense to me.

These people don’t sound very smart. The Govenator should put a ban on it period and could make mention that some organizations need this money for support and ask for contributions. These people would have to come up with some other means of making money for the next time.

  6. Fireworks are illegal in Florida. I don’t think kids should be selling them, because they are dangerous. Bad burns are caused by “Sparklers”, even.
